A great museum showcasing much of our railway history. From rail and infrastructure right through the to rolling stock and locomotives. Information signs can be found for 80% of the museum. Some of the locomotives are still in service so things move around occasionally. Taking photos can be tricky however given some lighting issues. Never the less many great opportunities exist to take them. Great value for money. But don’t just rush around. Take the time and effort to appreciate what’s in the display. Sometimes a rail motor or steam engine will haul passenger reins on the local branch line from the local station (just outside the museum). Check the website for more info. I do wish some more interactivity existed for the children, however. Don’t forget to check out the gift shop on your way out.

Great day out seeing the beautiful old trains and enjoying a calm ride on an old diesel train. I took a disabled client there and with help from some of the lovely volunteers to get her onboard, we had a most enjoyable time.
Very nice place for kids and train lovers. Rich collection.
Great museum for train enthusiasts or just those interested in a bit of history. Decent sized outdoor shed area houses several retired trains that you can look at, read about, and walk through. Well maintained. Outdoor train area is under shelter. Indoor area has some trains, a little gift shop and cafe (although the cafe was closed due to COVID restrictions), and a little theatre that played an historic educational video on loop. There is an outdoor play area with a climbing frame and some trains to play on. For the historical train ride, you need to walk through the outdoor playground area, and cross the train tracks at the level crossing, to get to the platform for boarding. Bookings required (for COVID) meant that you had a designated seating area which I think, made the experience much better. The train ride is a short one down to an unused station and back. Plenty of street parking and it's close to the town's little shops, which are just a short walk down the street. (Shops include a cafe with some outdoor seating.) Easy to find / drive to, as street signage is clear once you reach the general area. Worth a visit.
Great place, friendly staff. Kids would love the place.
Great museum. Amazing amount of rolling stock but the downside is cannot get in and view most carriages. Hopefully this will change? We went to see the Southern Aurora but we couldn’t get close as the locomotive and carriages were not on display. Little disappointing. On the whole definitely worth the visit.
Great collection of historic train carriages. Really enjoyed going into some of them and recollection of the past. Also great for the kids to have hands-on Worth a visit.
A brilliantly maintained museum with amazing collection of heritage trains, the ride in 3265 steam locomotive is a very fulfilling experience as well. It's a very educative and fun filled experience for everyone and kids in particular with the visit to NSW rail museum. Trains as old as 120 years are preserved there and a well managed museum overall with tons of information and background about various trains. A must visit for any family.
