We visited at the Victoria Barracks Army Museum today and caught a glimpse of what was behind those sandstone walls. Interesting history of the site dating back to the eighteen hundreds and a timeline of events up to present day were explained. Many interesting artifacts to view, buildings to look at and hear the stories associated to them, souvenirs to purchase and a lovely morning tea with scones, jam and cream and tea or coffee, all served in the officers mess. It was pleasing to see that there was free on site parking, especially being so close to the city and plenty of volunteers to assist on the day. The 3 hour visit was plenty of time to see, hear and experience all that the Museum had to offer. Both my partner and I had a most enjoyable morning.
