Wonderful recognition of history including Aboriginal and women in the wool industry. Great learning space with the exhibitions changing every few months. I just bought membership for my daughter and myself. It's cheap and definitely worth the money.

National Wool Museum in Geelong is conveniently located in the same building as the Geelong visitor centre. Geelong and VIC has a rich history in wool and textile industry in general. The museum shows the woollen mills that operated in the region in 1800’s and 1900’s. Definitely worth a visit if in Geelong.
This is exactly what this place is....a wool museum. Not much else. My first time ever going to this type of museum. I was very lucky as I had arrived at 2.30pm and didn't realise it shuts at 3. This girl at the counter was kind and let me in for free. I was very appreciative to that. I was shocked that on the top level was a picture exhibition which added something else to the museum... a nice touch. Very minimal stairs.. as the floors are connected by ramps, makes walking a little easier. Parking wasn't too bad for a busy Geelong day. At the gift shop there is Geelong's visitor information centre - which is an odd place to have it. Would defiantly recommend this place on a hot day.... minutes walk from the pier and beach
Worth a visit, but try to do it when there is also some other exhibit being hosted at the same time (eg. the annual wildlife photographer of the year). Note that they’re now closing earlier (3pm) on Saturdays and Sundays (as at date of this review: 2 April 2021). Worth combining a trip here with breakfast / lunch at the foreshore. Some weekends there is also a craft market at the foreshore.
An interesting combination of displays here. Certainly feels like you’ve stepped back in time..
Very interesting and a real appreciation for past generations. Sadly, a lost industry now (processing the wool). Highly recommend a visit.
Interesting to know about the history of wool in Australia. And ticket was free for Deakin students.
For 10 for entry, this museum is a steal for entry. Learnt a lot and everything is set out perfectly and interactive. Something for all ages at this museum and the staff were lovely. Especially the man operating the huge wool machine. No question was too silly or to hard to answer for this man and jeez did we learn a lot. For instance; did you know that seaweed is used to reduce the flatulence of live stock to prevent greenhouse gas emissions? Would never had known that had I not visited.
