Fabulous 3 course meal at a reasonable price for the quality of the meal (which wap 5 stars in itself) and personal service. The restaurant is in a mud hut built in Bookham NSW back in 1860. It wap moved to its current location in 1970. Being in such a building the atmosphere is to die for. Although the building is well over 100 years old there is accessible entry. If the restaurant is advised special accessibility is required at booking, a table with additional space will be reserved. The Green Herring has been operating in the building for approximately 20 years and under current management for the past 10. All in all 10 out of 10.

Christmas in July dinner was excellent. Entree, main and dessert plus bread roll and coffee for 65. There was a choice of 3 fantastic dishes each course. Service was the usual high standard and the atmosphere was cozy and festive. I have always enjoyed eating here no matter what time of the year.
We love going to the Green Herring - we're always looked after by Max and Michelle with friendly service and exceptional food. It's lovely to explore the seasonal menus and the Winemaker's Dinners are not to be missed. Thank you, Max, for always making us feel welcome and comfortable each time we visit.
One of a kind in Canberra. Owner/manager is great and organises his less than experienced wait staff. Food is always a pleasure and ambience spectacular. Highly recommend.
Best place! Gorgeous warm atmosphere, and food that tastes as amazing as it looks... Each dish a work of art! Would be a super romantic date venue also. If I could rate 10 I would!
Nice cosy atmosphere. Went as group for dinner. Vegetarian main was tasty but far too small. Salmon tasty but overcooked. Quite expensive. Looong wait for dessert but pleasant. Nice cheese platter. An enjoyable evening.
I went to a function held at the green Herring. There was a problem with the seating arrangements and the owner became very abusive and load with myself. Under no circumstances would I return to his restaurant
Great, gourmet meals at fairly standard Canberra prices. The restaurant is beautiful and interesting, and you really feel like you have stepped back in time when you enter the cottage! Service was friendly and all meals came quickly without feeling rushed.
