I've used Ted's in Camberwell but unfortunately they're closed now. Came to Melbourne store and was greeted promptly and assisted by staff who were friendly and knowledgeable. Recommend them for any of your photography needs.

Thomas of Ted’s Melbourne CBD store helped us a great deal in deciding on the gear we need for our upcoming African safari. He has a very strong knowledge base and was extremely patient with answering the tons of questions from us and his other customers. We’ve spoken to a number of sales staff around Melbourne over the past two months to make this decision, but no one matched Thom’s customer service skills. Made us decide to get everything we need from his store.
I bought a tripod in the morning and came home to find that the quick release plate was missing. I understand these things can happen and called the store to ask for a replacement. A worker by the name of David answered the phone and I explained the situation. He asked me if I can come back to the store by 4pm. As I have work and family commitments it was not an option. I told him that I am not in the city and I expect a complete set when I buy something from a store. Without any other questions his response was "well I dont even know what you bought. Wheres your receipt." He didn't even ask me any other questions and basically start giving me bad attitude. I asked him if they can send me the missing part and when they can do that. All he could say was "I don't know". Even my wife listening in the background was getting frustrated at the attitude and the responses that David was giving. After a few minutes, another salesperson(who was very helpful) called me and told me that they have located the part and will be sending a parcel to me only to find out that David didn't even write my address properly. Clearly he doesn't want to be there helping customers as he should. In the end, everything worked out, but something that could have been resolved so easily has become a bad experience due to one salesperson at your shop. 1 Star to David's attitude and phone manners.
Great service camera was on order and we were expecting a 2-3 delivery time. Was happily surprised that it came within a week. Highly recommend
I was lucky enough to be served by John who was just fantastic. He really helped me in my purchase, so after many years of loyalty to a nearby competitor I think from now on my first stop will be Ted's.
Very easy experience when I went in to get passport photos taken. The service was reasonably priced and the staff were friendly.
I must be invisible now. Impossible to get noticed by staff, despite being 6’5” and large. When I finally got served after all the other people who had arrived after me, it was curt and abrupt like I was invading their special place... wanting to buy something! I own a Leica M9 and various lenses, have started using a GoPro Hero9 and wanted some accessories. No discussion or help just pointed to the display and “That’s all we have” whereupon the guy just walked off! Ummm.... okay, I guess I will assist myself at another shop in future. If I could give zero stars I would.
