Great place, lovingly cared for by volunteers. It makes me feel old that I can remember when some of these cars and locomotives were in service! The pride of Queensland Railways is still to the fore. The general manager's car, which he used to tm inspect QR sites all over Queensland, is especially worth seeing. He certainly travelled in style.

The Archer Park Rail Museum is one of the checklist places to visit in Rockhampton. It is very informative and historical. The displays are fun and have a personal connection and insight to the people that worked there.

Good displays and on Sunday mornings the steam tram runs! Great coffee, lovely scones (with jam and cream). Fun for kids and adults.

Great display of memorabilia and old engines & carriages you can actually get on! Beautifully restored sleeping berths were fascinating to walk through. The staff were so friendly, it felt like a real privilege to be able to spend so much time there and learn so much. My 4yo loved it.

The elegant railway station building at Denison Street was built between 1897 and 1908, and was added to the Queensland Heritage Register in 1992. At the museum you can learn the fascinating story of the epic North Coast Railway, and daily transport in the Rockhampton area. There’s a Digital Soundscape system bringing the ambience of days gone by back to life, accompanied by tons of railway artefacts and photos. The star of the show is the French Purrey Steam Tram, which was reconstructed using parts from Rockhampton City Council’s fleet dating between 1909 and 1939. This engine is fired up on weekends for rides along a stretch of track.
