Pioneers Memorial Park is an urban jewel located on the cosmopolitan Norton Street. Formally the Balmain Cemetery, the site received over 10,000 burials of 24 different religious denominations. All but 126 of the burials occurred before December 1908. The Cemetery was renamed Pioneers Memorial Park in 1941 as a lasting tribute to the pioneers of the district and as a place of quiet recreation and enjoyment for future generations. The Park also contains a memorial to the service people of Leichhardt who lost their lives in World War 1 (1914 – 1919) and the Bicentennial Rotunda.

A nice park in Leichhardt to visit with the kids. There is plenty of grass space plus a good playground for the kids to play on. A few interesting spaces within the park to explore as you walk around with coffee in hand. We saw lots of solar panels but wondered why they were needed!

Great combination of fun for kids - including the fur kind! Large leafy trees make this a great spot for a picnic in the heart of Leichhardt.

Beautiful top area is an off leash dog park. Towards Norton st there is a nice playground and picnic spaces.

This is a beautiful peaceful park that is well maintained. Kids play area and off leash dog space. Lots of space and great gardens and tree groves
