Visited yesterday (22 Feb 2021) for a tasting and I was pleasantly surprised to find i loved all the wines on the tasting list! Definitely the best winery in McLaren Vale amongst the ones I have tried! Nice set up and friendly staff too. The only drawback being they charge 10 per head for tasting but they do not wave this fee upon purchase of wine.

very quirky little winery. beautiful setting outside, green grass and a very impressive tree to sit under and enjoy a nice glass of wine. the man who served us was hands down awesome. they were very busy when we went and I have never seen anyone multi-task like he did. props to him! even through it was busy he was attentive, funny and friendly and you felt very looked after and welcomed. i like the idea of the letters and being able to try the set list
I visited alpha box and dice a couple of times in 2016(ish) and was a huge fan. I visited again twice in the last week (2021) and was disappointed both times. The staff (in particular the male covid marshall) were rude and seemed to have little interest in providing a tasting or food options at times when it was mildly busy, or they were remotely close to closing. It felt like our attendance was an inconvenience both times. When we asked about the other great wineries in the area the covid marshall had little knowledge of other wineries or the significance of the area in general. In my earlier visits the staff had a great understanding of the surrounding area and could identify the differences in the ABD wines compared to the traditional wineries of the region. I think the wine and setting are still great, but are let down by some of the staff/management that are running it on a day to day basis.
This is honestly some of the best wine I’ve ever tasted, and there’s an incredible variety of it all in the one place. I’m not any sort of wine expert, but I just really enjoyed drinking this stuff. Such interesting, thoughtful, and creative flavours. Plus Sam the head winemaker seems like such a humble a chill guy and it was great chatting to him (even if I was a bit slurry by that point…). This was the highlight of our trip to McLaren Vale, and stood out so far above the other wineries that we visited. Highly recommend stopping by. Thanks guys.
Super cellar door with a wonderfully eclectic vibe. The two gents who served us were knowledgeable, passionate and totally relaxed. The concept they are working towards is 26 varieties of wine (one for each letter of the alphabet). The Rebel Rebel was a real winner, as was the prosecco. They also do a great platter - generous portions with great cheese and pate. Will definitely be taking friends back here
Very pleased with the service and knowledge of the staff, always makes for a memorable experience when you get the whole package!! Its good to know the ins and outs of the wine!!! Will be going back very soon!!!
Very relaxed settings and a great range of wines. The tasting fee plus the very very expensive grazing platter (50) needs to be better value.
Lovely team who have real passion for wine and sharing knowledge. Will come again. Great place for bringing a dog on a day out.
