Fantastic learnt about Ned Kelly 35yrs ago at school. But on our way to Melbourne we stopped and looked at the actual place had pics where he had his last shoot out and read his life story. Well worth stopping by think we forget about our history gave us alot to talk about the rest of the trip. Loved it xxx

Lovely historical town focused on the Kelly Gang siege in Glenrowan. Lots of Ned Kelly sites to take in, even the original location of the siege ... which is very close to the big Ned Kelly

Loved seeing all The History in the town. Although my 48yr old daughter did want to tickle Neds nuts

Australia is a land of BIG things like the Marino, Prawn, Banana and bull etc, In this instance though it's a big Ned Kelly that stands proudly in the main street of Glenrowan. Other than taking pictures of it I'm not sure what business it is guarding. The towering statue overwhelms the streetscape and like in the days of bushrangers, COVID has everyone wearing masks.

Historical & interesting town. Only disappointment PUB on main Street was closed at 3pm on a warm day.

Good family destination. Love all the Ned's hanging around.

In a country full of “Big Things”, giant novelty statues with a site-specific theme, it’s only right that Glenrowan should have a big Ned. This is in fact the town’s third big Ned, which might have something to do with Kelly’s controversial status as a folk hero. The first Big Ned Kelly Statue was pulled down and dumped in the river. The statue here today, showing Kelly in his armour with gun in hand, was produced by a Sydney-based artist in 1992 and transported in one piece by road. Made from fibreglass, the piece stands six metres tall and weighs 1.5 tons.
