Office Hours is a volunteer-driven program created to assist young refugees in Brisbane. We provide a safe space dedicated to building confidence and language skills, and assisting with things like job applications and resumes, homework, university assignments and interview skills. Our volunteers are from a range of professional backgrounds, and provide assistance with anything from general language and grammar on assignments and job applications, to specialised, skills-based advice. Our aim is to cultivate a large volunteer base who participate on a flexible basis so so we can provide targeted, specialised assistance when requested. Attendance varies weekly, and most volunteers participate as it suits them with only a few core people attending week to week. There is scope for this to be as routine or flexible as you like. Office Hours is conducted in South Brisbane every Tuesday night from 5-7pm. It's a great opportunity not only to make a difference in the lives of young people, but to meet a variety of truly inspiring people from a range of backgrounds.
