With a pinch of salt, Doug is a very friendly, helpful and cheap service. He is offering a service with his passion for helping budget travellers and although his equipment is very good ( he bought me brand new boots ), don't expect a shop front. Don't worry about booking more than 24-48 hrs before as he has HEAPS of all sorts of equipment from bikes to boots to gas cookers. Everything. Great experience with Doug.

Doug is awesome. Borrowed a near new tent for a very good price. Have no hesitation recommending.

Great quality equipment at a very reasonable price. Doug is a really nice guy and made sure we were totally kitted out for our Overland Track experience!

Not recommended for touring bicycle hire. The owner/manager means well, but he's not up to the task of keeping his bikes serviced well enough to trust over long distances. The bike I was given had a bald front tire, worn bracket, brakes put on backwards and was squeaky and un-oiled. I did receive a refund, but my confidence levels were questioned, which was bizarre to hear as a customer. Use for other equipment hire such as tents, sleeping bags and jackets.

After informing the owner that we would be there at 8am, so when we turned up with the meter running he was no-where to be seen. This caused us to stuff around a cab driver, and meant we had to go buy stuff from Kmart. Waste of time and money.

Doug is such a character! He has a large selection of camping equipment to hire, and some life advice as well!

The bikes are cheap to hire but are in very bad quality, brakes failed on the first day resulting in one of my friends coming off and badly injuring herself when we told this to doug he told us that girls shouldn't be riding bikes he also insulted us as French people saying he didn't like us anymore as we failed to pay for extra days when we took the bikes from wednesday to wednesday saying that was longer than a week. The tour however was incredible, an unforgettable experience but be prepared to having to deal with doug who is a racist con artist.

Operator answered door naked at 9am. Despite previously informing Doug(the owner) of our heights and weights he was not prepared for us. He was repeatedly racist, sexist, insulted our weight and joked and insulted customers from the day before while preparing our bikes. That is putting reinforced wheels and seatposts on. Problems started from leaving the store. gears and chains were rusty and well worn, regularly skipping teeth. Pedals were loose and would eventually fall off if not tightened. Brake cables were cut right at the caliper so they couldn't be loosened, wheels were out of true and got noticeably worse each day, causing breaks to rub. Tyres were very worn out. Many punctures and blow outs occurred before one tour completely which ended our your early. Frames were dented and scratched, pannier rack rusty and not level. Could hear noise from bottom bracket and both hubs, i guess they had never been serviced. Over our journey we met up with about 4 other bike tourists who rented from him on previous days and all shared similar complaints, racist and sexist, rather wierd in general with very poor bicycles. Upon returning bikes earlier than planned due to tyre ripping in half he repaid us for days not used but got angry and agressive when i listed off all the issues we had with the bike, he claimed "they've done thousands of k's before why would they stuff up now?". Because these problems build up over time.
