Neat little rural station, well-lit at night. At present, on weekday mornings there is a station manager on duty, usually a very friendly and helpful person. Plenty of 'tap-on' machines. There is a unisex toilet on the 'Up' platform (western side). It's open when the station manager is on duty, and is therefore kept clean. Lots of parking space on both sides of the station. The pedestrian crossing gates close as trains approach. Don't leave it to the last minute to reach the station or you could be cut off from your train. Tahmoor station is sheltered by a huge, friendly old gum-tree. The word 'Tahmoor' refers to the Common Bronzewing Pigeon, (Phaps chalcoptera), well-known in this area. Its call sounds like someone blowing across an open bottle.
