Our favourite & one of the best events in Newcastle. A wonderful day out with full-size, miniature, model & stationary steam locomotives. Full-size & miniature steam locomotive rides. Vintage cars, lorries & tractors. A wonderful day out for ANYONE-except pets.

Great day visiting Steamfest. Kids loved the fire engine and steam trains. Markets were good for parents to browse, and plenty of food choices. There was musicians playing but some weren’t very good at all. Rides were good but pricey.

Great family day out. Wear comfortable shoes and a hat. The day will be what you make it. Let your inner child come out to play.

Great family festival that celebrates the history of rail in NSW

Not as good as it used to be, only 2 stream trains running this year. Whatever happened to the days of having 6 to 8 steam locos? Bring back 3801, 3830 etc. Good to see more traction engines though, was very pricey for train rides too. Still a good day out with family.

Taking the grandsons on the return Port Waratah train ride this year was so much fun. Worth the cost to build beautiful memories for them of our time together.

Been here only a few times......but only when I was a child! Even then, it was brilliant coming here just to see the steam trains, steam tractors.......and that absolutely magnificent Dutch Pipe Organ that played gorgeous music! Another great thing to see, is the 3801 as it travels to Sydney! When I used to live in Morisset, I would go to the station just to see the 3801 pass through! Seeing old things from the steam era seems to make you a child again and also puts a massive smile on your face!
