Ararat has a lot of history and this interactive museum is reasonably priced, staffed by friendly knowledgeable staff, well laid out and definitely worth a visit. Allow 2 hours, watch the movie to get the backstory and then be immersed in what the museum has to offer. History, mining, gold panning, Chinese culture and the part the Chinese played in founding Ararat. Before leaving make sure you go upstairs and check out the roof of this extraordinary building.

Great little museum but with lots of items ang things to explore. You can have yourself with the traditional Chinese dress, pan gold, calligraphy and many more. The two ladies at the reception really nice and very helpful. We were the only family visited this morning. Spent over an hour in there. Kids really enjoyed it. Highly recommended when visiting the area.

Knowledgeable and very friendly volunteers who add to the value of spending time here. Learn about the importance of the contribution by the Chinese around here. Very well laid out, accessible. Allow 1.5 hours at least

The host at the centre Heather is very committed to her role. She provided us with a wealth of knowledge with a lot of patience and dedication. She accommodated us even though it was close to closing time and didn't rush us either. The centre is a MUST SEE. It is educational for both children and adults and provides insight into the historical connection between China and Australia.

An extremely interesting museum showing the Chinese history in the western district of Victoria. Ararat being founded through the Chinese miners. Very reasonable entry fees and the volunteer staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Gift shop is worth a visit all on its own with very reasonable prices.

Fantastic and informative place. We learnt so much from the lady at the reception desk. Lots of things here for kids to interact with.
