I was a patient at ipu1 for around 2 - 3 weeks, I've never met such caring and compassionate nurses and staff in general in my life. I can easily say they saved my life and held my family together, I will never forget the kindness and excellent care I recieved here. Thank you xx However if you are offered a stay at Parc down the road I strongly do not recommend it. Especially if you are struggling with day to day life, my stay there was horrific no one read files or knew what they were doing, you will be told one thing by one member of staff only to be told the complete oppisite by another. Reporting abusive staff also has no effect beyond a slap on the wrist. It's a shame, there are a few good members of staff there but the rest are more likely to tip you into a suicidal spiral through sheer incompetence.

This place has a poor understanding of suicide. Don't go here if you need help. Their approach is clumsy and ill-considered. They make things worse. Mental health is a low priority. The Psychiatrist in Papu is a bully and seeks only to brutalize people to make them leave. A truly appalling individual who is not fit to work in her profession. I will be writing a formal complaint to the Minister of Victorian Mental Health - The Hon Martin Foley MP. This will include dates, times and what was said. I encourage others to do the same. Funding for this appalling health institution must be reconsidered and redirected to where it serves some useful purpose.
