Volunterr guides tell the stories of personalities from the pages of history as you view the rooms and artifacts on display in the cottage. John Macarthur and Elizabeth Macarthur played a pivotal role in the selective breeding of Merino Sheep to produce fine wool which is famous around the world . Pictured is one mascot in a photo session illustrating some of the historic aspects of this 1824 built cottage. Guided tours of the cottage gives you the wonderful experience of discovering the life and style of living in the 'Cradle City of Australia'. The first governor of the settlement Arthur Phillip selected the district of Parramatta in 1788 for the growing of food to sustain the members of the First Fleet.

Hambledon cottage is a lovely little piece of history in Parramatta. The connecting park has a lovely garden which is perfect for afternoon strolls around the general Parramatta region. The cottage itself has beautiful architecture with old sandstone bricks. Hambledon cottage connects with experiment farm also. If interested, it's great to start at Elizabeth farm, continue to Experiment Farm and Hambledon cottage and follow through to Government House in Parramatta park for an early settlers historical tour.
