This hostel is a good value for a very expensive city like Sydney. I stayed in a private room (with a shared bathroom). This review is for one of those rooms not a regular dorm room. I would recommend booking on their website directly for you might get a better price- I got the private room for about 40US per night during summer. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean (although the bathroom was a bit of walk from my room). The room was somewhat dated and small (and the door could have used some new paint) but I slept well and the hostel is in a good location - about 5 to 10 minute walk from the main train station, a 5 minute walk to the subway (you can walk to the Sydney Harbor in about 25 minutes or a quick subway ride) and a grocery store and a pub are only about 1 minute walk away. They do charge for wi-fi (goto Greyhound bus store next door and use it free with chairs for about 30 minutes if you ask nicely). Customer service at the front desk was very good-they have discounted tickets for attractions and they let me store my bags for free the day I checked out. They have free meals once or twice a week and a large kitchen good for cooking. The overall atmosphere was friendly and they have a tv and billiards room. There is no elevator here and it seemed like it could be a little noisy at nightime (that is not uncommon in hostels). For a very expensive city like Sydney this hostel is pretty good value for the money if you are just looking for a comfortable bed at night in a good location.

They provide one meal on Monday , Tuesday , Thursday and Sunday . Nice and cheap backpacker ever in Sydney . I have good time in here. Thank you Maze backpacker.
Great hostel, would definitely recommend. The single rooms had plenty of room. Sheets and towels (1 per person) are complimentary. The rooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and building were clean. The kitchen has everything you need utensils wise, but can get busy at peak hours. Activities and free food are held most nights, helping you meet others.
Very overpriced for a run down hostel. The smell is horrendous, there is no lift only stairs, it’s so noisy so you can’t sleep, the rooms are tiny you can’t even open your suitcase, it’s on a noisy busy street but it’s close to everything, when we booked even the member of staff told us to look around first which didn’t give me much confidence. The staff are friendly tho but next time I would stay at YHA down the road, cheaper, cleaner, bigger and much more welcoming.
It was disgusting It smells like a death body was in the room for a long time. We cant open the window more, than you can see on the Photo below. It was also very loud from everyting 2 Stars for the cheap price
Some staff are friendly, some are not. Good central location and great price. Good activities and free food. However, the place looks and smells old. Very noisy. Female toilet and shower rooms (1st floor) quite dirty. Kitchen is dirty too. Movie room also smells bad. Overall, it's an ok experience for me.
Great place to stay. The rooms are tiny but the staff is really good and understanding. The staff made it worth it. Tiny rooms gave us a very suffocating feeling, and it was quite hot - we asked the staff to let us check out other rooms - they graciously accepted. On not finding a room with any better situation, we were a bit disappointed. But the staff came to our room and offered an extra fan. That was really sweet and made our stay much more comfortable. The rooms are still really small tho :P Good kitchen, play and movie area
