I was in the unfortunate situation of needing my 4wd engine rebuilt, it was such a difficult decision for me but Neil was fantastic. He is very professional, knowledgeable and he came across genuinely caring, not just trying to make a sale but to be honest about the situation and what can be done. The work he did rebuilding my engine has been excellent, I highly recommend Neil and The Engine Shop!

Neil Herbert, known to be one of the best engine builders in WA, lived up to his reputation from my experience as a customer at The Engine shop. my 2006 STI was undergoing a new "Juiced up" engine build. We were slightly delayed because of Covid-19 Virus, but Neil went in and out of his way to work afterhours and ensure the project was making headway. Amazing experience, would recommend to anyone WA.
Neil was fantastic to deal with. Im a picky guy, and he worked through everything. Great communication, knows his stuff, honest, reliable and all round decent bloke. Next engine i have I will deal with him again!!
Neil is an absolute legend, he is a encyclopedia of engine knowledge and will make sure you have all the information that you need before you make a big decision about your car. Neil and the team always kept me up to date with what was going on durring the rebuild and what I needed to do once I had received the engine back. Service how it should be! I'm not all that mechanically educated, and I cold-called The Engine Shop just to ask a question. Neil gave me 20 minutes of his time to speak with me and help me out. The level of genuineness and care he gave me was exceptional.
After having the unfortunate experience of the engine blowing up in my 4wd, I phoned around a few places in Perth. When I phoned Neil, he struck me as being very knowledgeable and customer friendly. During the process of stripping down my engine through to the rebuild, Neil kept me informed of the progress and any issues along the way. Neil always answered any questions I had in a professional and honest way. I would highly recommend The Engine Shop to anyone requiring any engine overhaul work or rebuild.
What can I say...Neil and the team did an absolute fantastic job on my little 3rz-fe engine.. Professional workmanship and had it done in no time.. I live 250kms south of Perth and only got the run around from locals so I would advise anyone looking for engine work to stop looking and go see Neil and the team A Once again thanks Guys I'm a happy man
I made one phone call to the engine shop after my mechanics were useless and spoke to Neil who absolutely saved me - I cannot even begin to thank you enough! When I spoke to Neil I told him about white smoke intermittently coming out my exhaust and my car burning engine oil. He instantly said this could be something called a rocker cover problem which no other mechanic had been able to diagnose (and thats with them physically seeing the car and smoke). This cost me 80 from a wreckers and other mechanics had told us it would be a massive engine overhaul or 400 just in labour to look at the car. As a backpacker getting told we could be staring down the barrel of a big engine problem you absolutely saved us - unbeknownst to you. If you ever have any engine problems do not even hesitate to contact these guys. Thank you SO much for giving such great expertise even through a phone call, you cannot get better service than that!
