Ricketts point is one of my go to spots to capture storms coming over port Phillip bay. You can get some good vantage points all around. It's also not a bad spot for sunset photography too. There is an old signal post out on the rock shelf which provides a good foreground. There is also plenty of rock pools to get nice reflections of the sky in. It's a great place to bring kids to explore through the rock pools too. I remember doing this when I was a kid. A little further up from the rock pools area is a dog friendly beach. So many dogs! Very shallow (still knee deep about 150m out) so not good for swimming, but saw a lot of kayaks, and paddle boards floating around. Also saw a puffer fish that was way too close to my face for comfort but it was about 100m out. Lots of kids and animals, and all the dogs are so very cute.

Visually stunning sunsets with views better than other bayside beaches and it has the added benefit of being able to bring the hound after certain times.

Great location for a BBQ or picnic. Plenty of space and seating. Picturesque views of the water and a cafe - which is currently under redevelopment. Heaps of parking a day easy access to beach.

BEST BEACH EVER!!!! Its quite different from most beaches though, very rocky. What i recommend is taking a look in the rock pools, they're a great way to look at the local wildlife, and its something you don't get from any other beach.
