This hub for health and advocacy among homeless is the best 'ground level' fully accessible service I have attended. All in need are welcomed here without judgement, stigma or labelling & basic needs such as privacy & respect are honoured. Arts and positive personal expression and individuality are celebrated in this space, photo is of an artwork hung on wall inside among posters of health awareness, equal rights and diversity. Shower/Laundry and Food are provided as part of this health service and any person needing help in crisis can access real solutions here.
We can feel the Melbourne spirit here Highly recommended !
Very cool space, lots of awesome graffiti artwork. Many of the pieces looked new and several of the locals walking through exclaimed that they had not seen some of the pieces before; so definitely worth repeat visits. Only marked down one star as there were several wedding photography sessions taking place and it was tough not to get in their way.
This is your one-stop shop for everything you a need from food, to clothes, to toiletries, to internet, showers or washing machines.....you may be in need of seeking medical advice from a qualified nurse, or help with your current housing situation ....Or maybe you just might need someone friendly to lend a listening ear.... Whatever you may need, there's NO problem too big or too small for these AMAZING volunteers, who are non-judgemental, compassionate and pour their heart and soul into helping in whatever way they possibly can!!
You can go to Hosier lane every two weeks and the art changes. Always some thought provoking stuff as well as lots of interesting and surreal examples of street art. Definitely worth a visit
One of the best places for street art in Melbourne, been here for 10 years can't find anything to compare. Beware there is a lot of people, but will be able to take photos easily. Really artistic and full pieces are here with minimal graffiti over the art.
Been here twice, early morning and afternoon. The latter is a bit crowded, however could be quite an experience as you actually get to see some artists doing their pieces on the wall. Also quite hard to take a decent photo of yourself as there's almost people on every corner of the alley. Would recommend going early during the morning rush. Almost no tourists, and the alley is pretty much empty except for a few people who are on their way to work. Whichever works well for you, it is a must visit when in Melbourne.
