Was rushing to the gallery for its George Gittoes exhibition and was impressed by its collections. It was a silent yet confronting experience that effectively communicated Gittoes' motivations. Though I wished some artworks would have descriptions especially when it comes to Gittoes. But at least they transcribed his messy handwriting! (sorry Gittoes). Overall, the staff were very polite and the gallery was polished well. I would recommend the staff have a closer eye on some of the patrons, there were a group of young kids that stormed into the exhibition room and disturbed viewers. They also touched the artworks which I don't think any artist would want unintended. It would be good if parents are instructed to accompany their children wherever they go.

This was our first visit to this gallery and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the exhibitions. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable and the Covid restrictions were clearly marked and publicised. We will return on our next visit to Wollongong.
Impressive collection, includes significant historical paintings, depictions of local life and scenery, well known Australien contemporary artists and community art. Staff knowledgeable and very friendly.
Nice local museum with a ton of local art. Great that it is free and close to the town center along with many other good selections of food nearby. The receptionist was very polite. Note that you cannot take backpacks around in the museum, you must leave them at the front. You can take pictures may take pictures as you like although some rooms can be quite empty and spacious. Would be nice to see more sculpture work in this museum.
Went here during Covid and we were the only ones there. Immaculately clean, helpful staff and beautiful artwork very thoughtfully displayed. Would definitely be worth a visit, and it's all freeeee!
Wonderfully helpful staff in a beautiful space. Great gallery spaces that cater for local, national and First Nations artists. The gallery also boasts fantastic school and community programs and a small but intersting gift/bookshop.
Wonderful experience .only popped in by chance .did not even know we had an art gallery worth a visit
Good experience, nice collections, I just wish there was a little more art...!
