I completed my beginners sewing course today with Amy. Having never used a sewing machine before but always dreaming of learning, I cannot recommend the sewing course enough. Amy's an excellent teacher for a beginner, adapting to the level of each of the students in the class and explaining concepts so well. You're able to complete a mini project at the end of each class, amazingly, and everything about this course is practical. I had booked this class almost a year ago, pre-COVID and it was postponed due to the pandemic, however I am so glad that it persisted and I did it - I'll definitely be doing more classes. Thanks Thread Den!

I just loved my experience at the Thread Den sewing class for beginners. Our teacher Jen was exceptional. We actually made three items over the three Saturdays and we were all amazed at what we had been able to do. It was a comfortable and relaxed class with excellent equipment, and being able to buy some tools, fabrics and zips while we were there was a bonus. The range of ages was also great as I didn't feel too out of place being older. Totally inspired and have booked in to a cushion class!
I had my first private sewing lesson today and I loved it, I’m a beginner and didn’t know my top from my tail but my teacher was so patient with me and answered all my questions (and there was a lot ) and I learnt heaps without it feeling like I was being babied. Really looking forward to doing more workshops and classes
Up a steep flight of staris, with internal steps it has no support for mobility impaired. None of the classes I did resulted in a finished product within the time allotted. This despite being able to sew clothes and home furnishings before I started. I am left with partly finished projects and wasted money and fabrics.
Such an amazing space; I did the 3 week beginners sewing course. The staff are extremely friendly, patient and approachable.
Now I understand why ThreadDen is consistently rated as 5 stars. I should have done this 20 years ago. I could have saved literally (honestly, I rarely use that term) hundreds of dollars (maybe more) in alteration costs and frustration. After just one private lesson from Jen, I've learned how to use my new sewing machine and do my own alterations. Simply fantastic!
So far I have taken the Beginner sewing course and the Baby Knit Leggings course. This is my review for the Beginners course: This was a fantastic course! Laura (first two weeks) and Hayley (third week) took us step-by-step through each project. The projects were well-paced and achievable in each of the three-hour sessions. I now feel confident in setting up a sewing machine and sewing in straight lines/curves/angles, and could complete each project independently at home. As a result of enjoying this introductory course, I have become a Thread Den member so that I can do more courses at the discounted rates. Thanks girls!
I just finished a three week course making the Sapporo Coat. It looks absolutely fabulous. Megan made the classes extremely enjoyable on so many levels. Easy going, PATIENT (oh my god she was so patient with me haha I was always making mistakes), and also incredibly talented at the craft of sewing. My coat would not have turned out anywhere near as awesome as it was without her guidance. I have learnt so many things from her. Thanks Megan! Looking forward to the next class I book :)
