My favourite cinema. I come here at least once/fortnight to watch great films on a big screen, in an atmosphere that is just wonderful. The art deco style is terrific - this is a very beautiful cinema. I really enjoy the double bills and the special events (like the all night horror film marathon on Halloween). I will go and see any Hitchcock film at the Astor - such a pleasure. Have watched everything from Kurosawa to Godzilla here, and will keep coming as long as they stay open.

The Astor is an incredibly beautiful and art deco cinema. They predominantly show 35mm film from the 70's-90's (the classic ads included) and are often lining up double or even triple features. If you get the opportunity, go watch an old favourite and relive the nostalgia.
Such an amazing cinema experience if you love classic movies. The staff are friendly and it is truly in a league of its own. It's a must experience for any movie lover.
There's not many movie experiences like The Astor Theatre left. The Astor is an institution, providing movie goers with a more personal, tailored watching experience for decades. From the beautiful architecture to the ladies powder room, The Astor delivers of you want a unique Melbourne night out.
I always have a fantastic time at The Astor. They show lots of old classics as well as new films, there really is something for everyone. The whole experience is so unique and special. They are handling Covid really well and social distancing; cannot reccomend enough!!
Atmosphere by the popcorn bucket ️ Such a lovely place to go alone, on a date night or in a large group. They have yummy vegan popcorn and friendly staff. They are an institution of Melbourne and need support, it really is a win win. On a side note, if you are sensitive to loud sounds pop in some earplugs as the audio is cranked up high).
The Astor is really unique and there isn't really a cinema like it. Beautiful 1930s art deco styling and (in addition to 4k digital) they still run 35mm and 70mm film prints which is amazing and often draws me there. Prices are reasonable the they now have a really cool bar downstairs. Highly recommended.
I love this cinema and would reccomend it to anyone. The movies they show are diverse and nostalgic, combined with recent releases. They always have an accompanying experience if you watch a marathon. Reccomend sitting upstairs close to the front.
