If you are looking for a student type life, look somewhere else. Sydney University Village is a ghost town, devoid of any type of student life. The curfew on weekends is too early. The place is clearly trying to cater more to the less social students. Reception staff is unwilling to extend themselves further than they have to unless someone higher up instructed them to, it seems like the staff simply don't care. A few of the staff are not well trained with the system they are using anyways. It is overly priced for what you get. I stayed in a studio without a kitchen that was meant for disabled students. The room was located on the 7th floor and the nearest kitchen was in another building. I can imagine it would be extremely difficult for someone with disabilities to live in such a room. In another flat I stayed in, there was a cockroach problem that just kept on coming back and needed better dealing with - but was not. They get two stars because I did make good connections with other students and the location is pretty close to Uni. Aside from that, I advise looking somewhere else.

Good place for students. - The village is located at a prime location in Newtown with all the cafes and shops at only a few minutes walking distance, it is also very close to Sydney University. - The rooms are quite clean with all the basic amenities. - The common areas in the apartments and in the village are a great place to relax and catch-up with friends. - The social events run by the village management are great for meeting new people. Personally, I love the green foliage around the village and the friendly staff.
Great atmosphere, friendly service, outside and interior seating, fine coffee , and food. All served in a few minutes, with class.
Cottage-style student accommodation in Newtown area - 15 minutes walk to the University of Sydney main campus area. Most of the buildings are two-storey cottage house with red-brick style; with 4-5 rooms inside and quite a spacious kitchen with living room. There are studio rooms as well on the newer modernish-vibe building.
If I could this place a zero, I would. I have been living here for two months as a student, and have had nothing but trouble: dirty room with hair and bugs everywhere upon arrival, broken stove top, broken shower, an electrical breaker that goes off for no reason everyday, broken freezer that’s the size of an ice cube tray, and a roach nest that is living in my fridge. I am beyond disgusted and appalled. Don’t think twice about staying here. For the price we pay, there should be little to no problems. The place has no air conditioning, no window screens to keep out insects, and looks so far away from the website photos that it’s horrendous.
the Village is neither a five-star hotel nor an unliveable dump. But it is uni student housing. You really can't set your expectations too high as some people seem to do. Maybe there is a crack in your bedroom wall but that's just superficial damage and won't make the room any less liveable. Generally it's a pretty nice place to live. The RAs are all friendly, the public spaces are kept clean, they host lots of fun free events. There are things that are less great about it too like the leaf-blower that is definitely on for way too long every Tuesday morning and the sometimes messy state of your kitchen when you move in depending on who your roommates are. I think mostly the village is what you make of it; if you choose to stay holed up in your room and find things to complain about you'll probably find them. But if you try to live your uni life to the fullest not worrying so much about those things it'll go fine.
have been living here for about three years. nice location, close to uni and Newtown. They also organise so many interesting events, good place to choose
Bad place to live with , they just come in and inspect without emails. The staffs here r rude as well. Bad experience in australia. Cockroaches everywhere.
