Tucked away within a Sydney CBD building arcade you’ll find Sakuratei Japanese Restaurant, an atmospheric sake and kushi bar. This charming eatery specialises in kushi skewers, a moreish food which is hugely popular in Japanese izakayas. It's been over two years since I last visited and the dinner menu wasn't as extensive as it was back then, perhaps due to a change in management. That said, the food was pretty tasty and of a high standard. Eating the food reminded me of Japan. I really like that it's an authentic restaurant with Japanese staff, which can be hard to find in Sydney. The only negative was that wait staff were occasionally absent which made things awkward as I had to call out for someone to serve me.

Ordered the wagyu beef set. Decent flavour and it comes with a lot of food. Quiet during lunch time and the service was really quick

Nice friendly service by Japanese staff. It's a no nonsense eatery that serves fast Japanese food. Got here after 1pm and the throngs of office workers were beginning to thin out. Staff was very diligent and kept the restaurant clean and tidy. Menu was quite extensive. Food we ordered was delicious. Must try the steamed gyoza. Definitely worth future visits.

Went for my birthday and booked a whole table. Now one of my favourite Japanese restaurants in Sydney! Fantastic service, very friendly, all smiles and a genuine waitress team. No fuss, just excellent food and not long a wait for the dishes to roll out. We tried a bit of everything (dinner menu), the soft shell crab was beautiful, the noodle dishes and chicken was great, sashimi was very fresh and light. Cannot fault this place at all. The pricing is fine for the city and not over the top, great value for a dinner event. The drinks are worth a try too! Even the Chef smiled and thanked us for visiting when we waved to say thank you. What a beautiful night! Will recommend to all my friends and revisit again. Cheers xxx

Authentic Japanese restaurant, great for a quick lunch and even better for a relaxed dinner. The Sakura set meal is incredible! Sashimi, sushi, gyoza, meat skewers and a generous bowl of ramen. おいしい!
