The best authentic Indonesian food I have had in Sydney. Small place but very fresh and nice food. The staffs are very friendly. Sometimes I go to the CBD just to eat this food.. definitely 5 Star (y)

Pendopo Express is geared at an Indonesian audience, and, by my reckoning (on walking past a number of times before dining), they are reaching them very well. The small restaurant has a menu-board that is predicated on you knowing (or at least, being able to look up) Indonesian dish names. Bakso abang (11) is a meatball rice noodle soup with fried tofu pieces. It’s gentle and texturally interesting, and can be amped up with the little lime green pots of fruity-fierce chilli sambal. It’s also useful on aneka gorengan (3/each) or fried snacks—in our case, balls of fried dough. Your must-order is Batagor (11), a fried fishcake dish, topped with one of the best spicy peanut sauces I’ve had, dominated by the big taste of roasted peanuts. Ayam geprek (12) presents two pieces of crisp fried chook with a healthy slathering of bright red chilli sambal, a fan of mouth-soothing cucumber, and a mound of rice. Bright iced passionfruit (5) will also ease the burn, with a slightly salty lime juice (5) providing another interesting counterpoint to the tasty, inexpensive meal. With an open kitchen and just two rows of tissue box-topped tables (you’re going to sweat) that curiously face inwards, come prepared to wait for a seat.

A nice litte Indonesian restaurant at Sussex St. They serve rice with a variety of menu to choose from. They specialise in Padang cuisine. I tried the ayam geprek and it was tasty. You get a free drink for every 15 purchase.
