One Star for honouring someone who claimed this land as "Terra Nullius" when it was occupied for thousands of years before. Five Stars for being a nice canvas, bringing my final score to Three Stars.

A conversation point in the beautiful Hyde Park. Easily accessible from steps at corner of Park street and College Street. It was publicly unveiled in 1879. I find this a great spot to soak up the sun especially in Spring or Autumn as summer sun can be uncomfortable. It's normally a "stop" spot for tourists to take photos of this larger than life statue.
This statue of the discoverer of Australia - Captain Cook. Its situated in the south end of the park across the Park Street.
The statue of Captain Cook is situated in the South end of Hyde Park, Sydney and is very impressive and imposing. The statue was erected by public donations suplimented by government grants and is made of bronze. It is said that approximately 60,000 people attended the the unveiling ceremony. I don't know how tall it is but it sure is big. If you are on holiday in Sydney then take a trip to Hyde Park you won't regret it.
Statue of Captain Cook. Located in a flat grassy area so it is fairly easy to stop from a distance. It's located about half way down the park on the ANZAC memorial end.
A Magnificent statue to a great explorer.
Nice
The best history is the one preserved: in all it's splendour as well as it's warts and all. Don't hide it away, understand the mistakes of the past so you can build a better future
