Great place to learn about the coal mining in the old days in a well organized place. Still lots of things & worthwhile to see even though the paid underground tour is currently suspended. There’s also a decent cafe and a tiny garden sitting in the park which so the visitors could take a rest somehow.

Great place, nice people in here. sadly the underground tour still closed due to the pandemic and maintenance.
Great place to spend an hour or two walking around the various exhibits. A nice cafe on site too next to the car park. It was very quiet even on a Saturday. I'm sure I would've rated 5 star if it wasn't for Covid stopping the underground tours!
Amazing place for families to learn about the past mining industry. Lots of information provided at various stations. Underground tours were suspended indefinitely due to covid 19. Will need at least 1 hour to visit all exhibits. Volunteers at the front counter were extremely helpful.
This mine supplied the coal for all the steam engines on the Victorian Railways back in the day. Nowadays it's a tourist venture, and it's very nice.
The town that ran by the whistle. A snap shot into yesteryear. This museum is free to come and visit and learn the history of coal mining around Wonthaggi area. Suitable for young and old alike, but do allow a minimum of 90 minutes. Plenty of parking on-site, there is BBQs and cafe refreshment. And toilets. Unfortunately the underground tour is not currently available right now (Jan 2021), due to COVID and social distancing. Looking forward to returning, when the underground mine tour recommence. So if you're holidaying in the area, go and have look. J
A must do when visiting South Gippsland. The tour guides are well knowledgeable and some are very funny. Good cafe and a nice spot to explore with the kids.
Went here once as a lad, can't remember much apart from the sanga and can of coke I smashed down at the cafe. Anyway here's a meme my buddy Phil made that's a cracker about the coal mine.
