Ian did an out of warranty repair on my Yamaha speaker. He was professional and knowledgeable and had it back to me repaired and working very promptly.

This place occupies a corner of a computer store. It comprises a service desk and room behind that is curtained off. When I dropped off my Sony product, the one-man-band that runs the place wasn't there at the advertised opening time. He knew I was coming to drop it off, and knew the fault with it. A staff member from the computer store took the item and gave me a receipt. So far it was okay. Received an SMS about a week later advising it's ready to pick up. I replied that I'd pick it up in the morning. I arrived a little early. About 10 minutes later the same computer store guy who helped me last time tried to locate my item. He emerged from the curtained-off room advising "I can't find his light switch!". Twenty minutes later (0850) I tried to call the mobile number that sent me the SMS. All I got was: "You have reached the message bank for...private number \u003cbeep\u003e". Wow. So not even an announcement that it's a business number? Hmm. I then queried the computer store receptionist about the correct mobile number to call, in case there was another to try. She advised that he's probably on a site job. Was he expecting me? Well, he should be. I SMSed that I'd pick it up in the morning! So she went into the curtained room, asked what it looked like. Mentioned she couldn't take payment...well it was under warranty. Thankfully there was a job sheet on the box indicating it was "Charge to: Sony Australia". So I signed for it and took it home. I haven't tested it yet. But one star is fair, assuming it now works as it's supposed to. The problem with this place? He needs someone at the counter. To answer calls. To receive and return goods. To have SOMEONE there representing his business at the advertised opening time of 0830. Sure, Launceston is a small city. But this experience is enough for me to avoid Sony products because 1: they're not as good as they once were, and 2: the authorised service contractor is a flake. Sorry IBE, but you truly suck.
