Should I snorkel in Port Douglas or Cairns? 100% Port Douglas. This company is fantastic. You go to three reef sites. Each reef site is a little different. Moving sites is a brilliant idea. We preferred this to staying on a pontoon all day which it is what we did in Cairns. (Silver swift is the sister company in Cairns which travel to different sites as well). This company has 20 plus sites so every trip will be different. Dory only swims at certain reefs, other reefs have giant clams, others have schools of miniature tropical fish. On the third reef you can go on a guided snorkel tour for free. The guide will point out the different types of fish and coral. We had a dream trip, we saw a shark and a turtle. 60% of the time they see a turtle. Their other company that goes to the low isles see turtles 90% of the time. The reefs today were brighter in colour than the ones we saw at a Cairns. The day was planned perfectly. The dive instructions were thorough with some added humour. The staff are brilliant, special mention to Mick and Simon. The food was pretty good too, lovely fresh foccacia sandwiches with some pastries started the day. Lunch was salads with a few hot dishes and tiny prawns which were advertised as King prawns. Cake on the way back ran out, which was very sad. Seeing a turtle was magical and was the highlight of our stay. This company offers 25% off with the entertainment book. You save around 70 off each ticket.

Very pleased with the service provided by the Silversonic crew down in Port Douglas. Excellent customer service while travelling across to the Great Barrier Reef on the Agincourt Reef tour and all crew members were very helpful and nice people. Definitely recommend this to everyone.

Great day out. Friendly helpful crew. Plenty of equipment and in good condition. Visited three sites. Given lots of time at each site and freedom to explore as you wish. Good food. Minor point, not much in the way of change facilities to get dry clothes on for journey back. All in all, would recommend!

Great day out on the reefs! We saw a huge eel while snorkelling. We did 2 introductory dives with Gordon and he was fantastic! He was "friends" with a fish called Agro, who came right up to us for a chin rub.
