Awesome guy! took time out of his day to chat about what he does and how he gets the amazing colour patterns in his knifes. We are visiting from NZ and Barry was originally from there, had a good chat about him about the move and things in NZ. Good dude! Awesome work shop!

Had a great day with a great bloke Barry. The opportunity to create a unique Santoku knife from start to finish was very rewarding and I would highly recommend it. Barry is a true craftsman with a wealth of knowledge he is happy to share. I will be coming back to make another knife. Thanks Barry.

So after a long lead time I have finally received my absolutely exquIsite hand made knife from Gardner Knives - Words cannot describe the beauty of a hand made knife with colours , textures and a look and feel that is bespoke and made to order. I AM TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH IT. The wait was worth it and the service and communication during the process from Amanda really was outstanding. This is a fantastically run business and the quality of product is second to none. Im back in the queue for another but this time the lead time is even a fraction longer but, i know already it will be worth the wait ! HIGHLY RECOMMEND So an update as at March 22nd 2018 after another bit of waiting (only 5 months this time) i am now the proud owner of the most epic knife set ever all sitting in a beautiful hand crafted knife roll made by friends af Amanda and Barry Rob Wallis - check out the photos - thanks guys amazing once again.

Made a beautiful knife with a buddy. Barry must've of woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Wouldn't call him enthusiastic, more sarcastic! The experience could've been nicer with more tolerance and interaction. We are fairly practical guys and found the experience frustrating at times due to his quite abrupt manner. He is very charming but openly says he doesn't like people, but will tolerate them if they are paying. It shows. If you are going to work with him, bring your knives from home, he will sharpen them. Also come with a clear picture of what you want - do your research first, you'll ave all-out of umming.
