At your interview, ask them how many of their staff successfully took them to the ATO and Fair Work Commissioner non-payment of superannuation and unfair dismissal over the last 5 years.

Searson Buck were the recruitment agency that helped me secure my first role when I returned back to Tasmania from a long period in Melbourne. Emily was warm, friendly and inviting and even left some flowers for me at my desk for my first day! A personal touch that was unexpected but appreciated.

I'm only interested in temping and haven't tried for permanent placements so I can't comment in that area. However, for temping I've found Annisha and Rochelle to be very responsive and helpful, and have secured a variety of interesting and challenging roles, working with some really great teams and companies. I've had several long-term (6 months) assignments and have found that if I ring SB about a week prior to the end of a contract, they're very good about finding me another one so that I'm generally only without work if I choose to take a holiday break. On one occasion, I found out during an interview that the assignment I was put forward for didn't align with the job title, and I rang SB afterwards to withdrew myself from consideration for it because I didn't think it'd suit me. SB didn't hold that against me at all and I was given an opportunity for a different role less than a week later. Lots of agencies wouldn't take it well if you declined an offer for any reason, so this definitely increased my respect for the company - they say they want their temps to be happy in their roles, and apparently they mean it. I'd definitely recommend trying them. You do need to be proactive in following-up until you get your first assignment and can build your reputation with them, but once they know you're reliable and hard-working, they look after you.

Useless is the definition of them if you're desperately looking for a job! Instead apply for private advertisers on Seek!

The most unprofessional, useless agency I have ever come across. No call back or acknowledgement of receiving your CV. I do not know how they have survived for so long.
