Good for kids
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Very crowded, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. Lovely staff throughout the experience. Quite expensive for minimal things. Food is expensive too and the seating is often flooded with people, so you have to be quick to get a seat. Very awesome views of sea creatures and different animals and close ups with them too. Awesome watching the penguins get fed right in front of you!

I took my three young kids there twice in two consecutive weeks. We all had a great time on both occasions. This aquarium definitely exceeded my expectations. I love how the aquarium is designed. You can see everything simply by following the route from entry to exit and you can also easily take shortcuts to skip certain sections. The aquarium is nicely organised into different sections. The range of sea life on exhibit is fantastic. There are so many things to love about this aquarium. My favourite parts include touching and learning about the shark eggs and sea sponges, seeing the octopus, watching gigantic rays and saw fish going pass the tunnel and the penguins near the exit. My kids also loved the 4D movie but unfortunately one of the projectors was broken and the movie became a 2D movie. The projector was still not fixed the second time we were there. The whole aquarium is wheelchair accessible. I had a pram during my visit and had no problem with access. The only downside is that you need to use the lifts which can be a bit crowded and there can be a queue on busy days.
Visited today with two children. The displays are great, no doubt about it. The fish are lovely to look at, and the stingrays are very entertaining show-offs. The larger tanks afford great views and photo opportunities, and the jellyfish exhibits are rather soothing. There are plenty of interesting and hands-on exhibits for kids to experience. However there's also downsides here. Firstly, I paid 100 for one pensioner and two children's tickets, which is excessive for an attraction with designated timed visits. Secondly, food options are severely limited to fried junk packs, with few bench-tables as your only seating options (most tables designed for 6 contained 2-3 people max). Our child guest today was refused purchase of a food item because she carried cash and could not pay by card- isn't this illegal, now Melbourne is no longer under lockdown? Thirdly, while there is elevator access for those of us who are mobility impaired, the wait to use it is long because prams also use the lift. Seating for mobility impaired visitors is extremely hard to find outside of the cafe. Mobility access drop-off points (or any, really) nearby are difficult to find nearby. This place is best for kids who can walk on their own, and make sure you bring your own food.
Fantastic experience and great learning for everyone. We hadn't been for around 8 years. It's changed a lot with improved exhibits, clearer access and pathways, and stunning exhibits and experiences. Not necessarily cheap, but you'd expect that. On-site cafe is handy but quite dear. Definitely worth a visit. Try to book a quieter time for the best experience.
Medium sized exhibits with plenty of educational and interactive aspects but not a big focus on cleanliness. To be expected as it is geared towards families however as we are in a post covid society, seeing the numerous handprints and faceprints on the glass within a sea of families does make one uncomfortable. The aquarium did seem understaffed and the tanks seemed rather small for the larger fish. Although the biggest tank surrounded the large and spacious seating area, due to the space mostly being taken up by visitors areas, it did seem like the actual amount of space for the Sharks and larger fish to swim in was small. The price was high even for concession at 36 pp with photography included valued at 26 whether you want it or not. Some of the interactive touchscreens did seem a bit buggy and there were not enough cleaners cleaning the tanks. Signs that said do not touch were too small and easily missed and seems like a danger hazard for children to contaminate the animals. Overall a okay experience however unless there are big renovations I probably won't be going again anytime soon.
Went with two kids aged 9 and 6. As usual, we went through at a brisk pace! But the attractions we're interesting and thoughtfully set out with interesting information. Nice cafe and interactive areas for the kids.
Fantastic exhibits, well maintained facilities and friendly staff, Sea Life is always worth a visit when in Melbourne. Displays are expansive and provide a great insight into the sea life that surround us. Kids will especially love the touch pool and the Penguin Exhibit!
Great day out. Covid safe. Amount of people limited so you could see all the attractions easily. Not as good as Cairns Aquarium, but still a good family attraction.
