Didn't know what to expect but was very happily surprised by what was on offer. Lots of history on display to interest all ages. Recommend timing your visit to include the blacksmithing, corn husking, wood turning & rope making displays. Friendly, knowledgeable guides.

The Australia Day celebration there this year was wonderful. Plenty to do and see for the kids and adults.

Visited Hervey Bay area for the first time last weekend. This was one of my favourite places visited. The staff were incredibly kind, I had thought I had dropped my wallet in the grounds (found it under the car in the parking lot) and they helped me search for it after hours. Incredibly embarrassing but they didn't make me feel bad and tried to cheer me up. Whoever allocates funds to these guys needs to keep it up and consider hosting more events to bring people in. Price is incredible and well worth it. Great range of historical items and buildings, another suggestion would be getting any relevant "oddities" of the area or somewhat morbid items. Some people get a kick out of that stuff.
