The restaurant's service and food impressed from the moment I set foot through the door. The food (Ordered the "black pepper chick&beef, tempura and salmon dish) was plentiful (particularly the 'black pepper beef'), arrived in a timely fashion and was beautifully presented - in addition to being great tasting. The staff were helpful, welcoming and very alert to the needs of diners.

I am really disappointed on quality, worse is the rice... Quality of rice is the signature of Japanese food.. We were there on last Sat night, only 5 tables were occupied, very different to all surrounding restaurants in Knox. Looks like most know they quality of food of this place except us... None of the staff knew even commonest Japanese greetings..

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and the food is the most genuine tasty Japanese food I've had in Melbourne. Love it!

Sht food, sht service. Waited 45 minutes for rice and curry, and then tried to charge us for someone else's (more expensive) meal. Don't ever waste your time here.\ufeff

I ordered the teriyaki beef main meal for dinner. The beef was very tender but it came with the smallest bowl of rice I have ever seen, making the meal a bit pricey.

We have been to Sakura often! We have always found the food to be of a very good standard! Always fresh, tasty and nicely presented and the waiting times are not usually long, and indeed - if they are not madly busy - they are usually quite quick! The wait staff are also quietly helpful and polite.. Both their general menu and lunch menus provide a reasonable range of good, Japanese style food at prices that are not in the expensive range. The ambiance is light and relaxing, and not usually too noisey, with simple light colored timber, tables and chairs, which are not uncomfortable - even for people like me with a bad back. However, if you are looking for the best of the best in fine Japanese dining- this isn't it. But Sakura isn't trying to be this either. But if you are looking for a very nice, tasty meal, which leaves you with that lovely " Uh hummmm' satisfied feeling afterwards, , and Japanese flavours really appeal to you, - You couldn't do better than here! If you are shopping, need to eat quickly before a movie or are in a hurry, ( or on a limited budget!) Their lunch menus ( during most of the day) are really to be recommended and are great value! They come with Miso soup and meat and veg' - ( or just veg- if you prefer) in a dish of your choice, all for around 12. We'll be back again!
