It is strange that website allows reviews only for properties sold or bought through agent. The actual dissatisfaction may be sitting with people who didn't go ahead with such agents and can't leave a feedback either. Seems website doesn't have a balanced pool of reviews. Beware.
Currently I am also browsing ratemyagent to choose the agents to sell my property. However what I am surprised is that all the agents at the website have positive review. If that's the case, how can I rely on this website to choose the suitable agent for me?
I feel it's a reasonably fair platform to ascertain the general ability of an agent. It's true that all vendors and buyers won't necessarily leave a review and the agent can screen out bad reviews by simply not requesting one. I think it's probably still the best site out there to get a good idea of the various agents who will be competing for your business.
If you're looking to sell property, do not rely on this website to shortlist your potential selling agents. It's a biased tool, allowing agents that pay for a certain membership level to get priority ranking and look fantastic on paper. But I, as a real estate vendor, can tell you that my negative reviews of certain agents have not been posted publicly on this website, even though these honest reviews contain no abusive language or defamatory information. On the other hand, my positive reviews have been posted publicly. And here's another huge warning: only successful buyers and successful vendors can leave reviews about selling agents. Unsuccessful buyers who may have had horrendous experiences with particular selling agents cannot leave reviews. Likewise, unsuccessful vendors cannot leave reviews if their selling agent fails to sell their property for whatever reason. So these cherry-picked positive reviews—written and posted only by successful buyers and only by successful vendors—paint a particularly perfect picture of certain paying real estate agents, which is of course anything but the truth. As a reliable, helpful, and truthful tool to rate real estate agents, RateMyAgent gets an extremely poor rating from me.
Rate My Agent is an invaluable marketing tool for my business. My business was built on my good reputation and RMA has made it easier to secure client reviews. Also, it’s a more transparent process for potential clients to access genuine reviews and compare Agents in their area . I also think has made Agents more accountable and lifted the professionalism in our industry. Well done RMA.
I believe RMA is the most credible of the real estate agent review platforms. They don't try and use the input as a way of selling sales leads to agencies like LAF, Open Agent and others do. They are now hosting Rental agent reviews as well and this should give a good reading on who treats owners and tenants well.
Rate my Agent is a great form of marketing and promoting our agency... we love it...
