Loved our stay! We were in the deluxe spa room with wrap around verandah. Great views, very clean and tidy and the location is handy to everything. The food from IL Cacciatore the on-site restaurant makes the best pasta I've ever eaten, we even ordered to takeaway back home! Definitely staying here again.

Our recent mid week stay at Hermitage Lodge was a last minute detour from Sydney to Brisbane. The suite we stayed in was well appointed, exceptionally clean, quiet, private and amongst the vineyards. Having a restaurant onsite was excellent as you could eat in, order to your room or take away a pizza after a long day out wine tasting. The owners and staff were warm and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. I highly recommend staying with Hermitage Lodge.
Our room itself "Bimbagen Studio" was well furnished, clean and overall a nice vibe however would have liked some more privacy from our neighbours on the balcony. The takeaway pizza was very average but the continental & hot breakfast were really nice. The owner is also very friendly and helpful.
Beautiful place. Very very lovely staff from the receptionist to the staff and the owner - especially the owner. We had a tiny issue in our room, but the staff and the owner acted qhickly and did their best to make us feel comfortable and welcomed. They even gave us some gifts when we checked out. It feels like home there. I highly advise anyone who wants to visit the valley to stay there. Oh and their restaurant is also great. Very delicious and generous meals not to forget the nice restaurant's waitresses. Can't wait to go there again. Thanks Hermitage Lodge.
Our last night in the Hunter Valley and we dud it in style...this hotel boast Il Cacciatore restaurant...a Northern Italian dining experience was a great choice ....what a great way to end our trip
The hermitage lodge exterior is beautiful and well kept. However once my husband and I entered the room and settled we noticed a few things. The room wasn’t the cleanest, particularly during COVID you want to ensure cleanliness. There were webs everywhere! Not something that bothers me too much but if they’re not being cleaned out of a table outside and wiped down then what else isn’t being cleaned. The breakfast which was between 15-20 was not worth the money! The granola was stale, and opening the jar all white residue came off the metal. The rooms need updating, very old caravan style. When our room was ‘cleaned’ it was rather taking bins out. No towels were replaced even with the used ones on the floor, they weren’t taken either. I don’t expect the room to be tidied but they made the bed and threw the clothing back on the floor. For the amount paid for this room I personally don’t suggest a stay. The restaurant attached to the lodge is fantastic. I believe the restaurant was the lodges saving grace.
I gifted my son a first anniversary 2 nights at your lodge including continental breakfast, to their disappointment and mine to know that first of all the room wasn’t to their expectations, cobwebs in the room, had to ask for towels where it should’ve been in the room like any lodge or hotel you go to, bathroom was filthy, had to clean it themselves, breakfast wasn’t worth the money, granola was off. I stayed here 4 weeks ago with my husband and we loved it which is why we recommended it, however I’m extremely disappointed when they told me everything about the room/services that they received but they were too embarrassed to go and complain about it. Dinner was excellent but breakfast and the room was a complete let down.
We had dinner on the deck next to the pond. Atmosphere was relaxed and attentive. Good covid spacing :) The meals were high quality, starting with Kingfish entree with salty bursts of caviar, followed by a main of steak done sous-vide then grilled. So the water bath slow cooking meant it was soft, pink and evenly cooked then picked up all the flame grilled flavours - very nice. The desert was a mini cheese cake with meringue and home made ice-cream - delicious.
