I had an absolutely diabolical experience with a female counsellor. She was entirely unwilling to work with me in a collaborative manner. The way she behaved was completely unethical & improper. She seemed to think that she had the right to totally take over the session and run it as she saw fit. She even point blank refused to discuss a distressing letter that I'd been sent – I'd brought the letter with me to our session so I could discuss it with her. I reiterate: she point blank refused to discuss it; giving me excuses that amounted to me been treated like a child. I'm wondering if the counsellors who work here are suitably qualified? That's a serious question – I'm not being rhetorical or facetious. I honestly wonder if they're suitably qualified. Precisely what training is required to be a counsellor at Anglicare? I'd like to add for context that I've seen a variety of therapists over many, many years. From social workers, to clinical psychologists, to psychiatrists (some of whom were regarded as some of the best in Perth). Never before have I had an experience like I had at Anglicare – with the counsellor refusing to discuss what I wanted to discuss in a session. Furthermore, if (hypothetically) her supervisor had witnessed her appallingly unprofessional behaviour, in my opinion it would've been grounds for instant dismissal. Counsellors must always bear in mind that the clients who they see are frequently vulnerable, emotionally fragile people. Negative experiences like the one I had can cause tremendous distress and make it difficult to trust future counsellors.

I visiting kids last 3 months every fortnight for two hours in Kingsley Anglicare. I met with Claire before start visitation process and she was amazing and very helpful person then honestly was not expected that much good hospitality than horrible and bad Relationship Australia experience. I was very impressed from first interaction end of intake interview :) So, Just want to say thanks heaps all of them for helps, good communication, quick responses and smily and easy going helpful supervisors. Kids also were looking pretty happy too. Thanks Anglicare!
