A nice day trip. Good to take on board some Australian history and see our first seat of government. Nice restaurant and park near by. Tour guide was very helpful.

Beautifully preserved building and gorgeous garden surrounding the oldest building in Sydney. Pack a picnic and enjoy a nice day. Close playarea too.

Compared to the 'new' government house in the City, this old government house is a modest affair. The furniture is not original and I imagine the interior was vastly more lavish in its day. Still, it's a fascinating look into our early colonial history. I was offered a tour guide, but as I was solo, I looked around on my own. There's an information board in each room. Also, there's a cafe in the courtyard (didn't eat there though). Parramatta Park is quite vast and beautiful.

Parramatta Park: Old Government House is the oldest surviving public building in Australia – and one of the 11 Australian Convict Sites listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Register. A section of the brick flooring from July 1790 survives till now. Convicts from the United Kingdom built many of the structures at Old Government House and were the labour force which operated the farming and other enterprises that occurred at what is now known as Parramatta Park. Over 165,000 men, women & children were transported from Great Britain to Australia as punishment for their crimes between 1788 & 1868. #Parramatta

Lachlan's at government house used to be worth more stars but after yesterday i noticed the portions are smaller and the prices have increased. The Devonshire tea use to include scones and tea now the scones are smaller and tea is priced separate..shame. Still a nice ambience.

The 15 charge for a tour is well worth it. The guides ( we had Peter) are very knowledgeable on there subjects and give a good tour.

A nice use for a beautiful old building; nice coffee and food, if a little expensive.
