I did the quilting course and learnt so much from Rhonda who was very patient with my slow and clumsy efforts. Both Rhonda and Fay made the classes warm and friendly, I was sorry when they ended. The range and quality of the fabrics is brilliant, the only problem is I spend too much ! Love this shop! Keep up the great work!

Another reviewer said this place is like a treasure box and I can’t agree enough. They don’t carry Kaffe Fassett or Tula Pink, but there are so many other amazing things to find that are beautiful and fun that you won’t notice. Kaffe Fassett and Tula Pink are easy to find anyway. Calico Patch has a lot more traditional fabrics, not my favorite, but I can still drop serious money in this store. They have so much! I’m always finding something new-to-me that I love. With Addicted to Fabric gone and maybe not coming back (sad, but they were shockingly expensive and service was hit and miss) and needing a local alternative to Hobbysew (another shop with hit and miss service), this shop is more important to Canberra than ever. Once you get a feel for the place, you’ll know what to expect and won’t be disappointed. One can’t always be zipping to Braidwood, after all, and so far as I can tell, Spotlight and Lincraft only carry overpriced junk fabric. You can also buy quilts here. I don’t believe they carry and clothing patterns or fabric suitable for clothing, but I admit I never look for any because I’m single-track focused on the quilting goods.

Has the widest range of quilting fabrics in Canberra, and Rhonda is very helpful in finding the right fabric or combination of fabrics.

Told me titanium needles are too expensive (they last 5 X times longer than normal) and charges 9.50 for Radiant thread. Total sale 18.95. No credit card for purchases less than 20. Went to Hobby Sew in Belconnen spent more as prices far more reasonable.

The range of Japanese themed quilting fabrics in this little store is utterly phenomenal. It's worth a visit just for this. The store is crammed to the rafters with beautiful fabric, and I've found that if I can't find something, the shop owner knows exactly where everything is, and has always been willing to help me, even with obscure requests like "I need a navy fabric with some sort of little red motif on it"... yup, no problem, from several different spots in the shop, out it came. I've also found that if I ever need anything unusual ordered in, they're always willing to do this for me, and even remembered what fabric I'd been looking for on my last visit and brought it out for me.

My experience at Calico Patch has been nothing but great. I have received good advice, quality material and found someone happy to teach me if the time permits at the counter. Calico Patch has helped me as a beginner quilter and then over the last three years. I have been treated respectfully and received advice about how to grade and select material, colour choices, quilt construction etc and it hasn't been troublesome. As a quilter Calico Patch provides such a good range of completed quilts to look at and gain inspiration from. I love visiting the store just to see what quilts have recently been made and I am now sending inexperienced quilters to the store to gain inspiration for their next project. For those who have had a bad experience I would say this is rare and it was a shame to read such a negative one sided review. The representation made against the owner and the store has never been experienced by me over the last three years and I have asked plenty of questions and been treated with nothing but respect. I am pleased with the service I have received and enjoy the lack of trolls. There are limited stores in Canberra that stock a wide range of quality materials and completed quilts, Calico Patch is one of few gems left. The alternative is online purchasing of material and this can be very hit and miss if you don't know what your looking for or the quality of the material manufacturers.

Yes, a vast array of fabric but no service! I come to Canberra every few months and often visit this shop with the same result. Is it store policy to ignore customers? Today I walked into the store and was ignored as usual. The woman behind the counter didn't make eye contact or greet me in any way, but continued to talk to her friend. I was there for 5 minutes, looked at the fabric and wondered why I would want to pay premium prices when I can get that level of service or better from Internet stores.

A great selection of fabric here but as another mentioned, the service can be really hit and miss. Maybe it's because I'm younger? I was here two days ago and felt like I was interrupting a private catch-up or something. The staff didn't address me until I addressed them. There was no greeting when we entered and when I asked for something I was pointed to the back of the store. With no other customers there, taking the time to check if what I wanted was there/offer alternatives would have been nice. When the staff member did speak to us she was very polite and nice, but when visiting a shop you should feel welcome not like an interruption.
