AVOID Aveo Aged Care Newstead. Or any other Aveo Aged care set up if this is the standard they 'aspire' to. Don't be fooled by the glossy surroundings - nothing matters to 'management' but the bottom line. They pay a pittance to their staff, don't pay on time, have never got enough staff for adequate care, staff are unhappy and poorly trained, and the food is disgusting. All the advertising is false - meals are not 'chef prepared,' but cooked off site and brought in, served barely warm. They run out of standards like juice or prunes, even milk! Pool and movie theatre are only available for the upper apartment levels but you'll be led to believe that those in Aged Care can use them too. Far too many agency staff come and go as they can't keep regular staff because of the pitiful pay and conditions. This is not a place to confidently leave anyone you care for. Aveo has had a bad reputation for years and this place shows they continue to deserve it. . .

Be very careful of this aged care facility. Not enough staff to cope with workload and very bad managers. The only thing 5 star is the furniture. Be very careful of the illusion created. If staff are running around looking flustered and lifestyle workers are very thin on the ground then be very careful to live here.
Aveo Newstead has quality apartments, fantastic facilities, helpful and friendly staff, and so many really lovely residents! Everything is super convenient due to it's location at Gasworks - the supermarket is downstairs, the airport about 20 minutes drive and the Port also close to hand - and there's a great concierge service available. Photo of Brisbane CBD taken from communal area on the 19th floor - the jewel in the building's crown - the views are just amazing! The photo of Aveo taken from across the road at Haven. (review based on multiple visits to the independent living communal areas plus various apartments).
Lovely retirement village. One of the top best
Wow so much spent an lovely stunning actually facility yet NO Money seems to be invested in staff or staff development. I have seen ads for nurses to be paid less them AIN wages Shame shame shame
We visited this location recently for two different events. I have a relative who just recently moved in and it seems very well run. The Melbourne Cup luncheon we attended was well done and the staff did an excellent job of including everyone in the festivities. The food was delicious as well. Well done!
This place is like a 5 star hotel. I want to live here when I'm older.
Not all that shimmers is gold. Yes the facility is beautiful and feels modern and new but none of that will matter if the care is poor and management absent. My mother was in the Aged Care facility on level 4 and we removed her after less than a week as it was unsafe. There was no continuity of care as it was primarily staffed by agency staff or junior nurses. There were multiple medication errors in that short time. My mother was left for hours on end in pain without anyone responding to her call button. Staff morale was low and staff spoke to us in confidence about their concerns with their workplace, which is always an alarm bell. We tried to speak with management every single day but they were absent until we escalated things at the very end. Very unhappy with our experience and thankful we were able to find another facility quickly. Vulnerable people need better care, especially when they are pouring their life saving into these places.
