My husband had to come up with a very good alternative to the 2 games of football this weekend on tv because it is our 38th wedding anniversary today. He googled wineries in the region and booked lunch at Windrush Winery just out of Mt Barker based on the previous great reviews. We were greeted by John the owner who was a great host. The wine tasting was very well delivered and wines explained. John told us his story and we were impressed at the attention to detail with the facility, wines and food. He is a man who loves the fine detail on things and it shows. The menu is small so his wife Jan can present great food to presumably a range of diners. Every dish is GF. What a feat!! Loved our wine and dine experience there. We especially loved the Rose and the White Port (Sweet Endings)

Fantastic wines and dinner tonight. Truly beautiful hosts, food and drink!
Stopped in our way home from albany. Food was good, especially dessert. Loved the wine and service was excellent
My wife and i visited here recently and found it to be The Best Wine & Food experience we have had in a long long time , from the minute you walk in to this beautiful little "cafe" which is surrounded by beautiful scenery you are made so welcome by John , an excellent front of house host. We decided to have some lunch after a couple of wine tastings , bloody good wines too especially the Cab Sav, well this was a taste experience we've never had before .Jan who is on her own in the kitchen is an excellent cook ,everything is home grown and fresh , the flavours are just mouthwatering. It was an honour to have met John & Jan and we both had an amazing time meeting you and having a chat, We will definately be going back for another visit when we are in Mount Barker, keep up the hard work guys this place is amazing
Very relaxed winery.Very clean & friendly, plus, the Wine is very good.
We had a spontaneous lunch visit on our way through to Albany. So glad we turned off Albany hwy to explore. I called ahead to ensure the kitchen was open ( was Xmas period) and our table was ready when we arrived. John was the host with the most, welcoming us as if into his own home. The food was amazing and a little extra touch was replacing the rice with mushrooms for the keto crew. Wines were lovely and the Rose' is perfect for sipping whilst watching birds in the gardens. Will definitely be back to this little hidden gem.
The best kept secret in the Great Southern area. From a gracious host and chef we enjoyed fabulous meals, with well made, interesting wines. The setting was pleasant and our host John couldn't have been more accommodating. Well worth the short drive up from Albany Highway.
We celebrated my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary here on the weekend. They have a capacity of 30 for sit-down service and we tested their limit with 29. John and Jan were so incredibly accommodating throughout the process from prior planning to delivery on the night. The service was discreet and every request catered for. I felt like it was OUR event rather than a dinner at a restaurant. The decorations were beautiful - tasteful, personal and colour coordinated to our theme. The food was plentiful, excellent value and delicious. I cannot say enough great things about Windrush Winery and the amazing hosts, John and Jan. Thank you so, so much for an amazing evening.
