Amazing class run by an excellent teacher. Informative, fun and a great morning out. If you’re going, bring a bottle of water as making (and eating!) chocolate is thirsty work!

Went to a chocolate making class as a team building activity. Was wonderful, we learnt a lot and it was filled with practical activities as well. Plus we got to take home all of the goodies we made! Definitely recommend!
The Sydney Chocolate School is in a really beautiful location, with some stunning views. However, their chocolate making class was a bit disappointing. As knowledgeable as the teacher was, and as delicious as the chocolates were, we came to the class to make chocolate but during the 3 hours class, I’d say only about 15% of it was hands-on. The rest of the time you’re standing around either watching others do something, or listening to the teacher give a history of the types of chocolates they have. This is because unlike most cooking schools where every couple or two people get a “station” where they get to make most of their food/chocolates themselves, there was only ONE station for a group of about 12, and we would take turns doing the work, like heating up the chocolate or pouring it into moulds. Also, it was a bit disappointing that we don’t get to take all the chocolate we make home. Most of the chocolate you make in class is actually packaged up to be distributed as samples in their stores. We did get to take home a small sample, but given you are paying to make chocolate in this class, and you don’t get to really make it or take it home, it was quite disappointing. Overall I did enjoy tasting the chocolates, and the times when we got to actually do some of the work was very interesting and fun. But I probably wouldn’t come back unless they make their classes a bit more hands-on. I can imagine this class would be so much fun if every couple got their own station to make their chocolates themselves.
I did the chocolate tempering course on a Sunday morning and found it both enjoyable and illuminating - lots of information and chocolate cooking tips passed on in a fun format. There was about 15 in our group, and everyone got a go at something without feeling constantly badgered to participate. They really do not stint on the sweets, and she's not kidding when she says you can have as much as you want. We made truffles, chocolate freckles, bars and more, and got to sample and compare lots of different types of chocolate. And yes, you do get to lick the spoon. :D There is easy parking on site, and a bathroom at the venue. There's also a lovely grassy lawn overlooking the harbour, so think about bringing lunch and making an afternoon of it.
I throughly enjoyed the class. The staff are highly enthusiastic, well prepared and make the tempering and casting of chocolates a lot of fun. The 90 minutes went extremely quickly and we left with a bag and belly’s full of chocolate. Well worth it as a fun afternoon activity.
Class was good and fun. Did not get to take much chocolate home after we made kilo's of it. Overall though, the whole experience of booking/correspondence was poor and I would not recommend this school to anyone. We had our group moved 3 times, and the first time it was moved without us being notified. The school said we were "emailed" but we never got the email. Wasted 15 parking on this day and an hour drive each way to get there. Following this, on the day where our group finally happened, I was told our booking (for 2 people) was only for one of us, and the other person had been booked into a group the previous week! We had received email notification this time around that the one of us was booked in to attend the group the week before (why? so illogical), and I immediately contacted the organizer of the chocolate schools bookings, who confirmed the booking was for the following week for both of us. To the lady who taught the classes credit, she saw logic and let us both attend the session. Overall, be vary wary and I would go to any other chocolate school before this one if I was ever to attend a class again.
Had a chocolate making class last Sunday - really enjoyed the experience. It was fun, interesting and you get to eat a lot of good quality chocolate! Such a big difference to what you buy in a supermarket and after this lesson you'll understand why:) Great value as you also get to take some of your creations home!
Best time! You get encouraged to eat all the chocolate you want in the class and as I bought for a chocoholic best gift ever. Learnt so much about tempering and the location on the harbour was stunning. FUN!
