The owner is a little bit ageist. Didnt want to hire me for the role because she thought I sounded young and that meant I wouldnt take it seriously. Imagine if that was done towards a senior person how unacceptable it would be. Im 30 years old and have worked in corporate roles for 10 years and retail roles as assistant manager foe 3 years. I applied for the role as Im quiet mature for my age and enjoy talking to older people and thought it would be a lovely store to work at. I found her very rude and innapropriate and she knew she was innapropriate as she said “i know Im not supposed to ask you your age but” and clearly thought she could get away with asking that question because I was young.
