Did the banquet set menu for 4 people, and overall the service was pretty good! There was a fair bit of hype around this place, and I don’t think the food lived up to it, if I’m being honest. It was all okay but lacked they lacked flavour or spice in quite a few dishes. A couple dishes were unique and more enjoyable like the eggplant dish, but frankly nothing I’d order again. The dessert was also pretty ordinary. For how much we paid, I’d say you can probably pay much less somewhere else for better.

I am disappointed to be writing a negative review as I heard excellent things about Moroccan Soup Bar and was really looking forward to dining here. Unfortunately, our experience here was incredibly poor. When we arrived we were seated and then ignored and weren't told about food or drink options. We had to flag someone down to ask whether we could have a menu and were not helped straight away. 15 minutes later we were told that it was a banquet option. Another couple also came in at a similar time to us, had the same experience but decided to leave. The entrees came out quickly as they only consisted of dips, bread and vegetables however we weren't provided with any cutlery and again had to flag someone down to get this. The main meals consisting of a stew, chickpea dish, and rice, took a very long time to come out and unfortunately lacked any flavour. We again had to wait a long time for dessert and after not receiving service, we decided to leave. When my partner went up to pay we were finally offered dessert take away. The dessert ended up being 2 turkish delight slices and 1 piece of baklava so we weren't sure why this would have taken that long to be served. The staff seemed very distracted and at times were on their phones. Overall this was an extremely disappointing experience and unfortunately we won't be returning here nor will we recommend it to people.
For a soup bar it only has two soups. The lentil soup tastes a tad sour like a tomato soup. The dinner pack was missing the chickpea bake so would have been much better with it.
Food is beautiful but I liked the old venue more as it was warmer and coffee/desserts were included in the price. But I will still support this place as the owner of the restaurant employs refugees and is an activist which I admire.
The best food I’ve had in a loooooong time—the variety as well as the flavours left us speechless. Service was great and so was the ambience. After the meal we were interested in having a look at the themed rooms and one of the ladies was kind enough to show us all the rooms and tell us stories about them. I can NOT wait to go back.
Ah what a shame these guys moved premises. Went to dine here at the previous address down the road pre Covid. It was exceptional. We aren't vegetarians but thoroughly enjoyed the experience at this restaurant. It was actually good to dine minus the alcohol. This new venue was disappointing on a number of levels. We booked as a group of 10. The other 8 had never been here before. Unfortunately as a larger group it just wasn't the same. The food that came out was mainly dips and nothing really to compliment it...like a flat bread for instance. There was a little eggplant and felt more solid vegetable based dishes would've been nice. The toilets are located around the back of the building. You need to exit the front doing area and walk around the rear and through another part of the restaurant set up for smaller group bookings. Very inconvenient. Funny as well...as I walked to go to the toilet I did notice tables that had a pita type flat bread....also interesting as well because all the food was eaten. From our previous experience there was so much food you simply couldn't eat it all. They actually provide take away containers (at a small cost) so you can take home what you don't eat. The majority of diners took take away containers. Anyway, if you're going to try this place, maybe let it be just a small group. I'm certain the other 8 friends we went with won't be going back but we may give it another go to the restaurant a chance to redeem themselves...
Ordered dinner pack takeaway. Food taste is so diverse, complex and amazing. Feel like I’m traveling to Morocco with my taste bud. Also for the packaging is environmentally friendly. Highly recommended!
garden room on 12.3.21. Amazing vegan banquet and a chat with the awe inspiring innovator and proprietor - who does so much for the community And brilliant food! So grateful for this place!
