This is DEFINITELY a dry track access for 2WD. slight drop of rain and the road in is mud!! Could not get past the cattle grid 1km away as too much mud and deep car tracks and sooo slippery ! Dec 28 2020. Disappointed not to get there

The Rocks is a local swimming basin, situated at the end of The Rocks Road (3.7 km from the Newell Hwy turnoff) on the Gwydir River. The Rocks is a great place to go when needing to cool down during those hot summer days.
