Spent the past 3 days at Monash Children's for our 1 year old son in the Forest Ward, and my husband and I left in awe. The team of doctors and nurses were brilliant, kind, and attentive. We felt comforted and informed, and our son could not have been in better hands. The room was great, the nurses were amazing and SO wonderful at dealing with children (our son loved them), and the doctors were the best we have ever come across. Thanks to the wonderful people who helped care for him. We are eternally grateful!

Our newly built Children's hospital, I would hope, offers top notch, world class medical care to our most unwell of children. The entry and foyer certainly has a bright and airy and cheerful aesthetic. But, it is the outside of this brand spanking new hospital where the true care can be seen. Within a few steps, covering every inch of newly planted garden bed, covering every walkway, footpath, gutter and road are literally millions of cigarette butts and every type of plastic litter imaginable. It is truly disgusting and extremely damaging to health and environment. It is what is outside, ultimately, that must be shown the importance and respect and care that it deserves, because it is what will ensure or condemn our childrens' futures. Smokers consider their comfort, their want, as taking precedence over all else. It is their worry or their grief rather than care for a loved one, that each is flaunting when they nonchalantly flaunt rules with abandon then drop numerous butts at their feet. Monash Health gives tacit approval, as does every staff member, patient and visitor, by turning a blind eye, by actively not ensuring rules are adhered to and by ignoring and failing to budget for the clean up. Regardless of who makes the mess, of who leaves their discarded litter any place they so choose, when you do not speak up, do not pick it up, you ARE leaving it there! Every Victorian ought to be ashamed. This is how we show our care:-
Staffs were amazing and friendly. The one star was for Dr. Ana. She’s not professional and wasted your time. We were there waiting for the discharge summary for over 6 hours. Even she noticed you there but no contact with you. And not too sure if Dr.Ana can speaking a well English???
My daughter was admitted Monday November 1st for appendicitis. She had been complaining of pain since Friday. Went to the doctors on Monday, sent to Frankston hospital then to Monash Clayton children’s. Scheduled for surgery Tuesday morning. By 9.30 Tuesday night she had been fasting since Monday and still not seen. I tried calling the hospital multiple times and it rang out. Was about to call the main hospital, then my wife rang and said she finally went in I believe because of the delay, it has caused the post surgery infection and problems. Instead of being sent home in approximately 24hours she is til there. Not sleeping , drinking, exhausted and in pain. Although the hospital and staff that attended her were great. I was really impressed when I got there. I understand there are more immediate problems that can arise while waiting. But the fact she was so young and it was an abdominal problem I find it totally unacceptable and don’t believe a hospital should be affected by public holidays.
The staff here are always amazing. If your little one is not well then this is the place. Parking can be expensive and there is construction going on in the carpark which is a bit of a hassle. If you have early appointments then 2 hour parking can be found on the streets nearby or the hospital is a short walk from Clayton. You can also use public transportation with bus stops out the front and the train station a short walk away. There is also plenty of facilities to help you if you need to feed or change your little one. All equipment is modern and state of the art. This hospital is a much better option that others in the monash health umbrella.
Came . The doctors are so nice and do really look after all the patients but for the smallest things here take too long ;)
Do not go to there emergency. Most understaffed and heartless people. They don't care if you are dying. 6 to 8 hours of wait regardless of how serious your baby is
We just had the most wonderful experience at Monash Children's hospital, in the Canopy Ward. Our daughter stayed there for 10 days and was so well looked after, the doctors assisting her were fantastic, the nurses and support personnel were extremely attentious and so lovely! We wish all the best for all this wonderful people we met there!
