How many times have I walked past the entrance to this secret treasure? This is a throwback to the good old days of Gaslight Records, with a good selection of harder-to-find titles in multiple formats. They also have a range of stylish threads for the "kids" to check out. The staff were super friendly, and complimented my face mask Stores like this fill a niche greatly missed by fans of older style music stores. Give them a look... If you're prepared to climb down and up a flight of stairs.

It’s vintage vinyl records and discs store in the heart of Melbourne CBD. They also do vintage cloths and costumes as well as in store performances and galleries. Great place to spend an hour if you are into these stuff. Highly recommended if you are in Melbourne CBD for a walk.

Great record store. Like they used to make them. Run by people who love music.

Awesome old-school record shop vibes in this friendly Melbourne basement. The people here are passionate about the music they want to share with you, and there's always a new musical discovery waiting for you down the stairs. Love the instore gigs, too. Can't wait to come back once the metro/regional border comes down.

A wide range of cds focusing on current releases and re-releases. Excellent range in stock of Australian rock from 60s onward. Great to see the Aztec re-releases from the glory days of Australian Rock, available at reasonable prices. A thoughtful memorial to the late Tony Joe White was wonderful to see. Must admit, the in-house music did get a bit loud for this shopper.

Melbourne also used to have Discurio Records, we used to have Gaslight Records, now we have only The Basement Discs left. Long may they live on, even though their prices are a bit high.
