Cupcake Central has been my preferred cupcake choice over the last 5 years. This store is inside Melbourne Central in the Dining Hall area. Cupcakes are light and delicious. Coffee is good. Service here is always friendly. My favourite out of all the flavours is Vanilla Vanilla, second place is Devils Food Chocolate. Im not too keen on the cookie sandwiches though.

This place is tucked away at an unassuming corner whilst the other front facing juggernauts take centre stage at Melbourne Central food court. Cupcake Central offers a healthy range of cupcakes, coffees and cookie sandwiches! Having suffered through the covid lockdown, they bounced back stronger; a testament of their quality product. I got 3 dozens of different flavours! Generally superb; but the Red Velvet, Caramel, Biscoff and Vegan Choc are bombdiggity!
I placed an online order - the cupcakes were delivered promptly on the requested day. Very moist and excellent flavor from all 12! Beautifully decorated and tasted as great as they looked!
Not sure about the cupcakes but I ordered a coffee from here and asked if they could make it "not so hot". What they made me was a coffee flavoured water so hot that it needed to put in a second cup before I could hold it. Wasn't worth drinking.
No better way than to celebrate the festive season than with cupcakes, especially those as cute and yummy as these! The Christmas edition from here really takes the cake - soft, fluffy cupcakes and tasty flavours!
Was beyond excited to come try the cupcakes here as I can't have dairy or gluten and they are one of the few places around that have cupcakes for my dietary requirements. My partner and I decided to each get a mini cupcake in their df/gf selection-carrot and chocolate. We both, unfortunately, found the cupcakes to be incredibly dry and the icing overly sweet and unbalanced. They get a star for customer service and another for the well presented cupcakes but unfortunately really missed the mark for us on flavour and texture.
DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT A RUINED BIRTHDAY! Ordered a cake when I was in Sydney for when we arrived to Melbourne for my partner’s birthday. Ordered a month in advance for pickup on a Saturday. Fast forward to us landing in Melbourne. Rang the cake shop to ensure all was good. Went to pick up at 3.30pm on a Saturday and the shop was CLOSED!! Tried to call, no answer, I was livid, no sign of anyone in there and a cake to pick up for a dinner THAT evening. The girl over the way at another bakery asked me if I was ok, I told her I was there to collect a cake and was told by Cupcake Central they closed at 5pm. She told me they closed because they ran out of cakes!?!? Even she was livid for me and tried to help me in contacting them. No answer, the place was completely locked up for the afternoon until the next day. I was shocked, they KNEW they had people who were coming to collect cakes and didn’t think to ring them. Was so disgusted, will never go back again, still shocked now they could close up 2 hours before closing on a SATURDAY. Ended up cakeless. Sent an email to complain about this horrific experience and they were completely useless.Save your money people, it was bad enough it was my partner’s cake but imagine this was your kid’s birthday cake!!
Their cupcakes are probably good. But please skip the coffee. Really miss the Plantation that was directly opposite this store.
