The MCC is a great choir because of the people and music. Everyone is welcoming and helpful. The songs are composed brilliantly and are satisfying to sing. The general consensus is it's difficult to stop singing and get to bed early after a class, but it's well worth it!

Do you often find yourself humming a tune or singing a song? Does it lift your spirits and calms your storms? Do you want to take the talent further but worry you might not always get the notes right so need a safe, fun and supportive environment? Melbourne Contemporary Choir (MCHOIR) is probably for you. I’m there a year and it’s been a wonderful journey. Three decades after my last schoolboy trebled-voiced choir, MCCHOIR has drawn out the tenor in me. The emphasis of the name is on contemporary. In a year, one night a week at one of the venues across the city (so you should find something that works with your busy life) you’ll master a mix of contemporary broadway musical and chart music; one voice in a mass choir singing out four part harmonies (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass). Extra purpose and focus is added by regular public performances (no fear, you’re in a choir, though opportunities to do solos if you want, one day) and occasional all-Saturday ‘boot camps’ fine tune songs before big events. Smart phone apps (Team App Choir Class) help with staying abreast of commitments and polishing your part at home, on the train, tram, car or foot. Run by a fabulous group of musicians, led by Jason. Oh, and great mid-practice food (cheeses, sweets, savoury) brought by members on rotation each week.

Great new choir in Melbourne. Loads of talented singers who get together for a good time, with excellent music, insightful choir direction, and to make new friends. It’s made my Monday night!
